Colin Firth: From Winchester School Days to Hollywood Royalty

Before he was winning Oscars for The King’s Speech or stealing hearts in Bridget Jones’s Diary and Love Actually, Colin Firth was a local student right here in the city, attending Montgomery of Alamein School (now Kings’ School) in Winchester. The “Ancient Capital” clearly provided the perfect backdrop for a young actor who would go on to become the quintessential face of British charm on the global stage.

In this Colin Firth caricature, he still has that famous “Mr. Darcy” smolder look. Whether he’s playing a King or a romantic lead, Colin’s Winchester roots remain a point of pride for the city.
