Surrey Legends: Celebrating Sir Michael Caine
Surrey is proud to claim film icon Sir Michael Caine as one of our own. A long-time Leatherhead resident, this legendary actor and author has personified “British Cool” across more than 115 films—from his breakout role in the epic Zulu to his iconic Hollywood blockbusters.
Beyond the famous cockney accent and the private home cinema, Sir Michael surprised fans on Desert Island Discs with his “hip” taste in music, choosing tracks by Coldplay and Elbow. To celebrate this local treasure reaching his 90th birthday, I couldn’t resist picking up the pen.
This tribute caricature captures the unmistakable character of a man who, as he famously (almost) said, “not a lot of people know” is a true Surrey local. Just as I’ve captured thousands of faces at weddings and events across the county, it’s a privilege to draw a legend from my own backyard.
