Eastbourne Caricaturist

Live Caricature artist in Eastbourne:
Fab, Fast & Fun

I’m Dave (of Groves Caricatures), and I bring high-energy, walkabout caricature entertainment to weddings, corporate events, and private parties throughout Eastbourne and the East Sussex coast. My mission is to create an immediate buzz—moving among your guests to spark genuine connections, loud laughter, and a signature touch of ‘Dave’ mayhem!

Whether I’m table-hopping at an Eastbourne wedding, mingling with delegates at a seafront award ceremony, or acting as the Event Cartoonist for a 50th birthday blast, I ensure your guests are thoroughly entertained. In just a few minutes, I capture convincing, funny likenesses that serve as the perfect ice-breaker and a unique coastal memento.

Where I’ve Been Sketching Lately:
Elegant Coastal Weddings: Capturing smiles at the Hydro Hotel in Old Eastbourne and the stunning Cooden Beach Hotel in Cooden.

Unique Local Charm: Drawing at the picturesque Sovereign Harbour, the historic Gildredge Manor, and the Shakespeare Hall in Newhaven.

Sporting & Celebration Hubs: Entertaining at the Eastbourne Downs Golf Club—perfect for a lively, high-energy crowd.

Community & Charity Events: I was honored to be the Event Cartoonist for the ‘Caring for Carers’ charity gala at The View Hotel on the Grand Parade.

Rustic Celebrations: A personal favorite was a cracking wedding reception at The Yew Tree Inn in Chalvington. Their marquee and adjacent campsite make it a fantastic, relaxed spot for ‘mayhem’ and laughter!

Whether you’re hosting a black-tie award ceremony or a festival-style marquee wedding, I provide authentic, real-time art that serves as the ultimate conversation piece.

Authentic Art on the Sunshine Coast: Hand-Drawn Laughter for Eastbourne Events.

Art by a Human, for Humans. (Actually, much funnier than a robot).

Tommy Cooper:
An Eastbourne Comedy Legend

The legendary Tommy Cooper was a familiar face in Eastbourne, often found sharing “never-ending gags” at local spots like The Squirrel (once managed by my father!). My dad remembers Tommy’s effortless humor—he could trigger roars of laughter without saying a word, often jokingly grumbling, “Why you laughing?” Whether he was dropping tea bags into pockets or causing slapstick chaos in the 1967 classic The Plank alongside Eric Sykes, Tommy’s genius was in the “mayhem.” Capturing his iconic fez and bumbling magic in this Tommy Cooper caricature is my tribute to a true Eastbourne local. I aim to bring that same spirit of connection and laughter to every event I draw!
