West Sussex is proud to claim the ultimate “Sky at Night” legend, Sir Patrick Moore, as a long-time resident of Selsey. As a professional caricaturist in Worthing, I simply had to capture this iconic and eccentric British character. Sir Patrick wasn’t just the grandfather of astronomy; he was a walking caricature, famous for his monocle, pipe, rapid-fire speech, and unique views.
For my generation, he will also be remembered as the digital face of GamesMaster, sharing cheat codes for Sonic and Super Nintendo! From founding the International Birdman event in Bognor Regis and Worthing to ruling the airwaves, Sir Patrick’s legacy is a stellar part of our local history. It’s a privilege to draw a West Sussex icon from my own backyard.
